A CONTROVERSIAL South Tamworth development has been given the go-ahead with a whopping 77 requirements by Tamworth Regional Council.

The 21-unit complex at Ainslie Place has been the subject of great debate after concerns the Craigends Lane and Goonoo Goonoo Road intersection couldn’t cope with the increased traffic.
Councillor Mark Rodda voted against the development on Tuesday.
“Now we’re basically saying there’s no more right turn,” he said.
“If I put myself in their situation I wouldn’t like it, they don’t like it and I can’t support this recommendation.”
Right hand turns will be banned on from Craigsend Lane on to the highway until it’s upgraded to two lanes.

“I still believe it’s a gross over-development of the site but that’s permissible under the zoning,” he said.
Craigends Lane resident Ian Burkinshaw said the development appears to be collusive and unethical.
“Obviously council are paying lip service to the checks and balances,” he said.
“Council should have the fortitude to stop this nonsense.”
Developer Paul Carrigan has paid for six professional traffic studies reviewed by Roads and Maritime Services.
