The team of Ky Wheeler, Jack Toole, Ben Sleeman, Fergus Frater, Holli Thornton, Rex Barwick, Rory Newsome, Rohan Martin, Bailey Scott, Archie Gavin, Jailan Leota, Emily Dietrich, Ben Sawyer, Tomi Gavin, Charlie Doyle and Oscar Turner defeated Moree Bulls, Pacific Lutheran College, Padua Gold and Highland Goats (NSW) in their pool games before accounting for Scone Grammar School 12-5 in the final.
The Matt Dietrich-coached sides’ defence was superb over the carnival only conceding two tries.
“Whilst there were a number of standout players during the weekend it was their team spirit and fantastic defence that saw them grow in confidence as the carnival progressed and set them up to win a hard fought final against Scone Grammar,” Club president Peter Toole said.
“The team had not played a match together before the carnival and more than half of the 16 players were stepping up to the under-12s from the under-10s in 2017 which was a tremendous achievement.”
