The mixed team has been training under coaches Matt Dietrich and Aaron Turner for the last month to prepare for the annual event.
Dietrich is expecting the team to perform well in their allocated division even though it is their first game for the season, the majority of the team are stepping up from under 10s in 2017 to the under 12s this year and experiencing the carnival for the first time.
The TAS carnival is a huge two-day event being staged Saturday and Sunday featuring 44 under 12s teams from NSW and Queensland.
The Tri Colours have four games Saturday against Moree Bulls, Pacific Lutheran College, Padua Gold and Highland Goats (NSW).
The team will stay overnight at TAS along with the other visiting teams before further games on Sunday.
Wallabies coach Michael Cheika will be in attendance to open the carnival.
Club president Peter Toole said preparations were well underway at the Tri Colours club for the start of the 2018 season with all age groups.
The season commences on May 6 with the first of 10 Sunday gala day carnivals held across the North West area with each participating town hosting one carnival each throughout the season.
Teams are mixed and any interested new players are encouraged to come along to our training sessions which resume after the school holidays at the Pirates home ground at Kent Street on May 3 from 4.30pm.
The Gala days feature competition for under 8s, 10s and 12s with at least three games for each team.
Registration fees are $100 for the season which can be done on line at Rugby Link or by contacting the club.
Under 6s are also welcome as fun drills and skills are conducted at the Gala days but not matches.
Toole is happy to field anyone’s calls on 0427 427 614 if they are new to town and looking to play rugby or are a first timer and would like more information about the club or the competition format.
The club wished the under 12s a successful and enjoyable carnival.
