Members of the Tamworth Mental Health Carers Support group officially handed over a petition with 13080 signatures on Friday in a bid to have their case heard in front of the state’s leaders.
Despite assurances from NSW Mental Health Minister Tanya Davies that the Banksia unit upgrade was a “strong case”, the petition was handballed to MP Kevin Anderson to be tabled in parliament.
The group needed 10,000 signatures for a mention at Macquarie St with members pounding the pavement to garner signatures since November last year.
It follows a push from Mr Anderson in September last year for upgrades to the 25-bed facility that was built in 1993.
