The Tamworth artist’s Tamworth Country Music Festival experience is the tip of the iceberg in a year that will see him fulfill his life long dream.
Normally, Clarke works on the other side of the stage – assisting with the day-to-day operations of the festival’s Coca-Cola Country and Toyota Festival FM programs.
But you’ll be lucky enough to see him at the Pure Country Spectacular at the Capitol Theatre on Tuesday, January 23 form 8pm.
“Being professionally involved with events within the Festival makes it sometimes hard for me to rush off and sing a few songs here and there and then back to work,” he said.
“So this year I've decided to knock it back to one and get through the festival and plan successfully for my trip to Nashville.”
Clarke’s Nashville journey is something he’d been dreaming of for more than a decade.
“I fly out to Nashville on March 17 for four weeks and I'm absolutely over the moon about it and filled with excitement and joy – I just cannot wait,” he said.
“I've been dreaming of going to Nashville since I was 10 years old but more so in the last ten years i've haven't stopped thinking of Nashville and the possible opportunities that are there and dreams really do come true.
“I've made contact with many of the songwriters and songwriting associations in Nashville already and they are all very welcoming and are excited to song write with me when i'm there.”
He said many of those in Nashville had written on his current album Standing Back, and he was looking forward to meeting them and working together again.
“The reason I wanted to go to Nashville is because I've lost motivation with my music and that breaks my heart, the feeling of joy and love overpowers me when i'm on stage and I love how people connect with me and or relate to certain songs i sing..
“So going to Nashville i'll get new original songs under my belt and my plan is to come back to Australia refreshed, motivated and excited to then plan for a new album. Hopefully all Brett written and co-written songs.”
Don’t miss out on catching Brett Clarke at the Festival before he flies out!
