ALEYCE Simmonds is still flying high off a successful 2017.
But 2018 is looking to be a year of firsts for the local star, with her first Tamworth Country Music Festival concert at the Tamworth Hotel.
And she could also be taking home her first ever Golden Guitar for female artist of the year.
She’s coming off the back of her successful album More Than Meets the Eye and will be joined in Tamworth by band The Spurs on Sunday, January 21.
“It’s the first time ever at the Tamworth Hotel,” she said.
“I’m looking forward to it, it’s one of my favourite venues in Tamworth.
“I’m doing a show there with my band, The Spurs and it’s not like anything I’ve done before and it will feature everything I’ve recorded in my career so far.”
Simmonds said she’ll be taking the audience back in time with songs from her first album she made almost 10 years ago in a showcase of her diversity and how far she’s come.
“I’ve been touring all year with The Spurs for this album (More Than Meets the Eye) and to finish that off in a way, in Tamworth, will be great,” she said.
“There’ll be some special guests aswell as Golden Guitar winners and friends of mine who will be able to pop up and sing along.”
“It’s quite personal, with The Spurs my sister is in there and my brother in-law and my closest friends.”
Simmonds is no stranger to a Golden Guitar nomination, having been nominated seven times before over the course of her career.
She said each time was an honour.
“It seems to get even more exciting, it’s an honour and I’m really excited for the night,” she said.
“It’s going to be a great night regardless of the outcome.”
Simmonds is also the manager of the City Sider Motel and said she’s looking forward to a series of mystery shows at the venue’s diner.
She’s hinted there’ll be some Golden Guitar winners in the mix and plenty of established singer-songwriters on the bill.
