Mr Schoen flew in on Tuesday to have dinner and talks with the Tamworth and district branch.
On the agenda were topics such as the quad bike rebate, native vegetation management reforms and rural crime.
But the biggest issue was water users in the Peel Valley who “seem to be really priced out of the market”.
Mr Schoen heard from dairy and lucerne farmers, among others, who were struggling to stay afloat. He said the issue had reached “a critical point”.
“IPART has just released a report on water pricing, so I think this is an opportune time to get into the ear of politicians and let it be known these guys are hurting,” he said.
