Packed full of unique activities, the festivities included a tricky toga fun run, Greek plate smashing with Ilias the Greek, a mediterranean feast sourced from locations within 100 miles of Bingara, and of course, orange picking.
Costa Georgiadis from Gardening Australia became a passionate supporter of the town’s living classroom last year, and was pleased to return for a tour through the classroom’s latest project, a Mediterranean garden and memorial olive grove. He was pleased to get his feet dirty in the tomato stomp comp.
Planted as a living memorial to Bingara’s fallen WWI and WWII soldiers, the orange trees are untouched throughout the year, until the town honours their servicemen with the annual orange picking.
The weekend was topped off with a movie character filled parade and a grand Roxy birthday ball. The iconic art deco theatre was built by Greek immigrants Peter Feros, Emanuel Aroney and George Psaltis.
