Does the Tamworth Regional Council accept the Australian Standard for the Protection of Trees on Development Sites (AS4970-2009) like almost all other councils in Australia?
If it does, then why doesn’t it comply, so valuable public trees like O’Halloran’s Fitzroy St tree are protected?
Photographic evidence has also been taken of development beside the trees in Bicentennial Park – where, again, no Australian standards have been followed. Will these trees follow the death of the Fitzroy St tree?
Given that public trees can now be assessed monetarily, will this permit further legal process?
We also have now been asked to accept development proposed beside our fragile heritage oak trees on King George V Ave. Without this Australian standard, what exactly can we expect?
Don’t we expect best practice from our council – as they expect from us?
