Members are organising a quilt and craft extravaganza for the weekend of November 8 and 9 and are calling on the public to show its support.
“Who knows when any of us might need the services of our local hospital?” auxiliary member Annette Lowe said.
It’s the first time the auxiliary has organised such an event but it’s promising to be a great weekend, with entries already coming in.
An official show opening will be held at the Tamworth Tennis Club, the event venue, on Friday, November 7, at 7pm before the doors are thrown open for two days of quilt displays from around the region and a range of craft stalls.
There’s an entry fee of $10 which includes a Devonshire tea and sandwiches.
Last financial year, the Tamworth Hospital Auxiliary raised just over $62,100 and to June this year almost $43,000 had been spent on resources and equipment for the hospital.
At the recent state conference of the United Hospital Auxiliaries of NSW, it was revealed that more than $10.6 million was raised around the state last financial year by 6135 members at 197 branches.
The conference heard that equated to 87,173 hours or the work of 484 employees.
