The anti-drugs campaigner and long-serving member of Tamworth City and Tamworth Regional councils says too many children are missing out on the education which can protect them from a life of misery and poor health.
So, to that end, he has been knocking on doors and will host a major fundraising dinner next Saturday.
So worthy is the cause, Australian music legends the Bushwackers and Australian football great Brendan Fevola are lending a hand.
Mr Woodley says about 20 to 25 per cent of school children in the North West area are missing out on a visit by Life Education and as a result fail to hear its vital message.
“I can’t emphasis enough how important this education is. We can not afford to have young children miss out on this vital part of their education,” he said. “It is now becoming more important then ever,” he added.
Mr Woodley said he wanted to remove the money issue from the equation as he said some schools could not afford the relatively small cost of having a Life Education visit.
“I am concerned that those children missing out may be the ones who need this education the most.”
Mr Woodley said fundraising was well under way and that the “business world in Tamworth” had been helpful. The dinner at the Tamworth War Memorial Town Hall was an important event in the overall project.
“I am encouraging businesses, schools, service clubs and other organisations to buy a table. I am asking people to be generous.
