“I only had time to say hello as she was leaving,” Mr Woolfe said.
“She was here for about five minutes but I had four or five customers so I couldn’t go out there.
“I couldn’t leave them waiting because they’re the ones who’ll be paying my bills next week.”
A location scout first photographed the back of his butcher’s shop a fortnight ago and came back again last week.
“They’ve been there a couple of times taking photos,” Mr Woolfe said.
“Because it’s an old shop apparently it’s the perfect location for the chase scene.
“Then he rang on Tuesday afternoon to organise to take more photos.
“When he came around taking photos I just sort of shrugged it off.
“I didn’t think it was anything special.
“Then when I saw that the director was Angelina Jolie I thought, ‘Oh s***, this is going to be big’.”
Earlier in the day Mr Woolfe said he was looking forward to meeting the actress.
“Wouldn’t that be nice? I’d close the doors and not let her out. If she sees my ugly head she’ll run,” he said.
Mr Woolfe said Jolie was the biggest star to ever come to Werris Creek.
“Our biggest celebrity is Matty Parsons who used to play for the Knights,” he said
“The biggest celebrity I ever met was Alan Jones and that was in high school.”
He said it was “fantastic” to have a blockbuster shot in the town.
“When they did the Superman Returns movie at Breeza we didn’t see anyone, but this sounds like it’ll be shot around town,” he said.
Joanne Marr from New England Mutual watched as the actress walked down the main street, looking at vacant shops and signs to be used for the movie.
“She stopped to have a look at the sign at the front of the credit union which talks about the history of the train station,” she said.
“She had about six other people with her.
“She’s only tiny. I expected her to be taller, but she’s very fine.
“Everyone’s very excited. It’s not often that this happens in Werris Creek.”
