Among the topics of discussion will be improving food safety through such programs as the Scores On Doors scheme, under which participating businesses put on display a certificate with a star rating of their food safety and hygiene compliance, based on an unannounced inspection.
Participants will also have the chance to ask questions, discuss food safety issues and ideas, learn more about the Food Regulation Partnership, and hear about other developments affecting food businesses, as well as meet the NSW Food Authority and the Food Service Advisory Group.
The Food Regulation Partnership is between the NSW Food Authority and local councils, which share responsibility for enforcing food safety regulations.
Small business commissioner Yasmin King and NSW Food Authority chief executive Polly Bennett will be present.
“This is a chance for open communication and is as much an opportunity for us to hear from those people successfully running their businesses and to learn about areas that can be improved, as it is a chance for us to inform businesses of the role and function of the partnership,” Ms Bennett said.
Ms Bennett said she hoped the meeting would encourage businesses to embrace the concept of food safety as being integral to the success of their business.
The two-hour meeting will be held at the Tamworth Regional Council chambers tomorrow from 10am to 12pm.
