With the demand for life-saving blood donations at a 10-year high, Australian Red Cross Lifeblood can't meet the needs of patients over the busy Christmas and New Year period without more support from Tamworth locals.
While many people take a break, donor centres will remain open between Christmas and New Years to support the seriously ill.
Lifeblood spokesperson Janine Crowell said Christmas is the season for giving, and thousands of people will need blood this Christmas just to have the hope of spending those moments with friends and family.
"With many donors expected to celebrate Christmas with family and friends, and taking the opportunity to travel, donations at this time are a particular concern," she said.

"Blood donation is one of the greatest gifts you could give.
"It's free, heartfelt, and it's not just for Christmas - we'd love to see these Secret Santas back throughout the year, because the need for blood never stops."
Santa even played his part on Thursday, dropping in to do some giving of a different kind, and encouraging others to do the same.
Days of particular concern at Tamworth Donor Centre include December 28, 29 and New Year's Eve.
