Tamworth Triathlon Club held their first race for the season at Kootingal on Saturday.
Despite the less than ideal conditions there was still a good roll-up of competitors, of all ages.
Club media officer Kimberley Squires said they would have more than 50 brave the conditions, including a few new faces, who have reported they are keen to come back.

"It was an encouraging start for the season on what was probably one of the bleakest days we've had," Squires said.
"It was like a blizzard out there."
"It just blew on the ride home and started spitting rain. It was not a comfortable race."
Shaun Betts won the handicap race. Lauren Ferguson was second, beating home husband Colin by eight seconds.
In the enticer race Laura Hall finished over two minutes clear of Sam Hurcum with Craig Trigwell-Lindley coming in third.
The club's next race is on November 27.
Coinciding with that the TTC is running it's first ever ladies triathlon.
The event is aimed at women 18 and over,who have been wanting to try triathlons but are looking for the encouragement of other women, friends and a supportive environment.
"The idea is for anyone who hasn't tried it (before) to give it a go," Squires said.
"And the other thing is bringing woman back to physical activity after they have had a baby."
The distance will be a 100m swim, 4km bike ride and 1km run.
It will start at 4pm with the regular triathlon taking place following.
