On the agenda tonight, councillors will decide who will fill the role of deputy mayor until at least the December 4 local government elections.
Deputy mayor Phil Betts looks set to be the man for the job, after councillors Charles Impey, Mark Rodda, Helen Tickle, Russell Webb and Juanita Wilson told the Leader they would not nominate.
A new performance review panel will also be established tonight, which will put the general manager's activities under the microscope.
The panel meets annually to conduct the review, and report its findings and recommendations to council.
The current panel includes Cr Col Murray, Cr Phil Betts, Cr Helen Tickle, and Cr Juanita Wilson.
