While academies of sport will be providing netball programs for young girls turning 15 or 16 next year.
This program will see the girls have regular training sessions with other young netballers across our region, whilst providing opportunities to enhance their on-court skills and skills as young individuals in our communities.
Current NIAS athlete Isabella Banister, who was selected as part of a four-person leadership team for the netball squad this year, said: "With the support from coaching and management staff, [as well as] personalised sporting and fitness programs and the exposure to playing in elite competitions such as the Academy Games, I have been able to grow and develop both personally and as an athlete.
"The leadership opportunities and connections to the netball world outside of the Northern Inland region are a bonus."
NIAS is excited to have applications open for the Glen Innes and Services Club netball program for 2022.
Even though the program operates across two different blocks - February to April and July to September - trials for the upcoming program will be held on November 14.
Those selected into the program will have the opportunity to compete against athletes from other regional academies of sport at the Your Local Club Academy Games.
In 2022, NIAS will be travelling south for this event - with the Southern Sports Academy in Wagga Wagga the host.
NIAS Netball athletes will also be able to attend the Athlete Education weekend next March, and have the opportunity to compete at Academy Challenge.
