STAFF at the mass vaccination clinics in Narrabri and Wee Waa were flat out across the weekend and into Monday, as more than 1500 locals showed up to receive their jabs.

About 1200 of those where in Narrabri, where line ups for the walk-in hub stretched for over a kilometre on Sunday, when 653 doses were administered.
It was an outrageous success according to Narrabri Shire Council mayor Ron Campbell, who was taking part in the vaccination efforts on both days.
He also believes the fact Pfizer doses were available was a major factor in the huge turnout.
"It's going to be a major boost to our vaccinations and they'll be back here in three weeks to do the second round and anyone else who wants their first shot," he said.
"It's much more popular, it just goes to show the community sentiment.

Cr Campbell said local staff have to be praised for picking up extra workloads to allow the Royal Flying Doctor Service and NSW Health nurses to all be available to administer the jabs.
Having six to seven people providing vaccinations at any given time was crucial to immunising such a high volume of people.
It should provide a spike to the shire's vaccination rates, which stood at 50.4 per cent first dose and 22.1 per cent second dose late last month.
Wee Waa certainly did its part, with 317 residents rolling their sleeve up on Saturday, which is an impressive effort according the Cr Campbell considering the town's population is only around 2000.
Cr Campbell said the efforts of the flying doctor service, Rotary Club of Narrabri, emergency services and the council had been fantastic, and led to the event being so successful.
