The council awarded a contract for the $32.5 million dollar project to Gongues Constructions in May, who will build a pipeline and treatment plant to deliver high-quality drinking water to Werris Creek, Quirindi and Willow Tree residents.
Recently, the contractor has had two surveyor crews undertake the survey of the existing water facilities associated with the project.

"The first crew has surveyed the reservoirs in Quirindi and Werris Creek where the pipelines will pump the treated water from Quipolly to the reservoirs in each town," Cr Hawkins said.
"This work has been undertaken to accurately locate existing services so that the designer can arrange the blueprints to avoid damage when connecting into existing pipes and to determine ground shapes and heights for construction purposes.
"The second survey team has carried out the bathymetric survey, that is the measurement of the dam's ground terrain underwater, at Quipolly Dam."
Construction works will commence following the completion of the design work, and take two years.
