Any effort that makes contact tracing easier and faster for authorities has the local chamber's support, a spokeswoman said.
"The recent outbreak has shown how contagious the Delta variant is, and that even the most fleeting contact can be dangerous," she said.
"Chamber acknowledges that this might be more work for some business owners and operators, but it's a small price to pay to keep our community safe and the local economy strong.
"We believe that the announcement gives business plenty of time to prepare, and to begin an education process with not only their customers, but suppliers and staff."
The chamber will run a social media campaign to support keeping the Tamworth region open for business.

ALL WORKPLACES and retail shops in Tamworth will need to make sure visitors use the ServiceNSW QR code from July 12.
The expanded mandate will give NSW Health contact tracers real-time data from a greater number of venues including supermarkets, retail shops, gyms and offices, Tamworth MP Kevin Anderson said.
"This is about keeping our local customers and staff safe and getting all businesses open again as soon as possible," he said.
"We know the Delta variant of COVID-19 moves quickly and we must do everything we can to get it under control.
"While many retail businesses, including large supermarkets and hardware chains, have voluntarily adopted the ServiceNSW QR code, this measure will ensure check-in rates are high across the board and contact tracers have access to reliable and comprehensive records."
