Tamworth Regional Council (TRC) has been working on a number of new local infrastructure projects that will improve connectivity and help people including the disabled and elderly.
Members of the Disability Action Working Group, including councillor Helen Tickle who is its chair, have expressed their delight at the amount of pathways and ramps being constructed.
Many of these new paths are located in the smaller communities surrounding Tamworth, providing help to people in those regions who can often feel left behind compared to those in the city.
Projects on Namoi Street in Manilla and the Nundle Recreation Reserve have already been completed, while work is currently underway on separate paths on Station Street and Chelmsford Street in Kootingal.
Between the four sets of works, more than half a kilometre of new pathways will be built.

Member of the working group, Fiona Hemmings, said it was a great to see such an emphasis being placed on supporting residents in those areas.
"Everyone from tiny little tots on pushbikes from oldies with wheelie walkers can now be active and enjoy the community which wasn't the case before," she said.
"It's about connecting communities, accessibility is paramount for people to move around in the community, to exercise, to visit, to just enjoy an inclusive community and to be able to participate in that community."
Cr Tickle said the council takes a regional approach to everything they do, and was focused on ensuring people with mobility issues could live easily in all corners of the local government area.
For the full list of footpaths and shared paths that are currently under construction or have been recently completed can be found on the TRC website.
On top of the new footpaths, a dozen new disability carparks were also approved at last week's council meeting.
