While the Roosters were missing a number of first grade stars, the Boars struck early - stunning the Roosters with a quick tap-and-try for Silas Haines.
It caught the Roosters by surprise, said Kootingal-Moonbi coach Geoff Sharpe.

"Brenton Cochrane and Stan Swan jumped out from dummy half and got us through the middle.
"And all of a sudden it was 22-0 at half-time."
Sharpe said he "blew up" at the break and demanded his charges show more aggression in defence.
"And the boys responded," he said. "It was two tries all in the second half.
"You can't give a side like that as much ball as we did.
"They are going to be a scary side, too, with Mick Watton running the show, Brenton and Stan Swan in the middle and their young winger Alex Lawrence. He's very handy, beats the first tackle every time."
Kootingal-Moonbi were missing half a dozen of their starting side and were best served by prop Chris Vidler, who was sent off late in the match.
"He had a big game in the front-row," Sharpe said, adding that Vidler was marched after retaliating to an elbow to the face.
"We'll have to see the charge sheet but he could be missing a little while," Sharpe said.
"Dylan Clarke had a good game for us and Luke Bonnell answered an SOS call and went well too."
Moree were missing captain-coach Ben Williams.
"Everyone played well," Boars president Todd Mitchell said.
"It was a good win for us. We defended well and just shut them out."
He thought Stan Swan was outstanding, along with Mick Watton, Brenton Cochrane, Brett McDonald and Alex Lawrence.
"Young Alex was really good," Mitchell said of the Greater Northern Tiger junior.
"He came in and took the pressure off the forwards."
The Boars have another home game this Saturday when they host Dungowan Cowboys while Kootingal-Moonbi are at home to Narrabri on Sunday.
