With fashion being an ever-evolving industry, a new year means new clothes for many, and that is good news for some local shops in need of a boost.
One of those is Town and Country Boutique, which doubles as a salon, and as such has been facing the dual challenge of helping cup-goers select new outfits and hair styles.
Service assistant Fiona Dunn said she had seen an increase in the amount of customers they had this week.
"We're getting lots of ladies in just looking for the change of season [clothing], so something a bit warmer but classical and we've got a great range," she said.
"They've been coming in and the last two days we've been really busy for the build up and they're still coming in now."
With the races being a particularly formal affair for many, items that are not even considered for other events make their way out.
Ms Dunn said there has been a high demand for a number of things that are hardly requested throughout the rest of the year, such as fascinators and classical hats and jackets.
Cancelled last year, the return of the Tamworth Cup is a huge bonus for the business which missed out on the quick cash inflow in 2020.

"It's made a huge difference and everybody is excited to be able to go too, the ladies are excited to get dressed up and get out and enjoy the cup," she said.
People certainly are keen to become part of the day, with the hospitality package selling out around two weeks ago and a function in the marquee pavilion close to capacity.
Administrator of the Tamworth Jockey Club (TJC), David Jewell, said there were still plenty of general admission tickets available.
He said the club was excited to see how people reacted to the cup being on a Friday, with the event previously racing on Sundays.
"With the easing of COVID restrictions people can actually buy tickets at the gate, they don't have to pre-order or register so we're expecting a reasonably good crowd to roll up on the day," he said.
Mr Jewell believes the event will be extremely popular with racing purists, as it is the richest race day the club has ever had with more than $500,000 on offer 124 horses involved.
Tickets can be purchased via the TJC website.
