Cowboys captain-coach Shaun Ferguson said former Farrer schoolboy star Jason Allwood will play for Dungowan this season after turning out in Saturday's trial matches against Boggabri and Aberdeen in Boggabri.
"Big Bear (Allwood) played well," Ferguson said.
"He hasn't played footy for 13 years. He played in that good Farrer side with PJ (Peter) Taylor and Tommie Learoyd Lahrs. He went to the Roosters (Sydney City) and a couple of other NRL clubs too but hasn't played for a long while."

Allwood and Greater Northern backrower Brett Jarrett were outstanding for the Cowboys in both wins against Aberdeen and Boggabri.
"It was good to get a few more minutes under their belts (after the trial against Werris Creek)."
"Reserve grade had a few more players too."
Ferguson said the Cowboys have a "few things to work on" but had plenty of positives come out of the trials.
Not the least was the form of "Big Bear", the form and unique "rugby" efforts from the Cowboys' Fijian contingent as well as the number of talented young players coming through the ranks.
"It's good having experienced players and great having Big Bear, he can only get better, but we have got a lot of youth there too," he said.
"Clay Frendin, Zac Parker, Cody Byrne and Trent Taylor are all talented young blokes. We have been getting good numbers at training too and we'll field two good sides."
