Nundle's business tourism and marketing group president Megan Trousdale said 2020 was "probably our busiest year in Nundle in terms of visitor numbers".

The milestone comes at the same time the town's business marketing group - which is constituted and funded by 25 local tourism businesses and helps build the Nundle brand - celebrated a decade in operation.

Mrs Trousdale said they had marked the occasion by commissioning a local artist, Natasha Soonchild, to create their own version of a classic art deco era tourism poster.

Nundle has often been called "Tamworth's Katoomba" so it made sense to have its own version of the famous vintage Blue Mountains posters produced in the 20s or 30s.

"I asked her to depict the Hanging Rock - the actual rock outcropping that you can see from Nundle. It's been recorded as a landmark for Europeans as early as the gold rush time. I didn't realise it was such a difficult landmark to depict.

"When you've got a local landmark like that, that everyone knows it has to be instantly recognisable to everyone that sees it," she said.

"People have a great affection for it and they're pleased with the result."

Mrs Soonchild said Nundle is better-known than we assume it is, and looks forward to families from across the state and the world picking up the "lovely memento".

"I would love to have people buy it as a testament to their love of Nundle, tourists that visit Nundle do return. There's even generations of families that come and camp here for many decades. I'd love for them to have this memento of Nundle," she said.

The posters are now on sale either as an A3 print or a small postcard.

Mrs Trousdale said the tourism group had developed and rolled out a number of tourism products for the town, including a distinctive brand, a website and more.

You can quantify their success by the fact that "we're still here after ten years as a group".

"Our membership is still strong and the businesses that are operating in the town are enjoying success," she said.

"Nundle often bucks the trend. When the economy might be struggling you'll see Nundle businesses growing in terms of turnover and employment."
