The school's P&C committee is hosting the first ever Chaffey-Catch-A-Carp day to raise funds for the school and to help eradicate the fish from Chaffey Dam.

Sponsored by the NSW Department of Primary Industries (DPI) Fisheries, the November 28 event will offer a variety of activities for all ages, as well as prizes.

"The DPI are coming out and will have things like a casting competition, prizes like rods and reels and will have plenty of information on hand for locals as well," P&C member Kirstyn Sampson said.

"We are really focused on it being a fundraiser for the school, but it also serves an important purpose in catching the carp and removing it from the dam.

"In that sense, it really is a win-win for our school and for the ecosystem."

Mrs Sampson said the event had already garnered plenty of interest from keen anglers.

"We created a Facebook page for the event and we've already had quite a few people message us with their interest," she said.

"Registrations can be done on the day from 7am, but we've already had people register online to get in early.

"All the carp will be disposed of correctly and with all the prizes and activities it should be a really good day."

Entry into the muster will cost $10 for adults and $5 for children. It begins at 7am, before wrapping up with a presentation at 5pm.

"We're really hoping to raise enough funds for a whole-school excursion for the kids and things like swimming lessons," Mrs Sampson said.

"We've had a bit of rain lately, so hopefully it should be a good day and the fish are biting."
