TWO men have been taken to hospital after they fell five metres from a lift in an accident on a construction site at a Tamworth school.

The men, both aged in their 20s, were taken to Tamworth hospital on Monday morning after they were injured on the job about 7am.
Police and SafeWork authorities were called in to investigate the incident at the site on Brisbane Street where construction is continuing on a new building at Tamworth Public School.
The pair were carrying out electrical work and were in a scissor lift when they fell several metres.

Ambulance NSW said it deployed three crews to the site for the injured men after initial reports one suffered a head injury and the other a back injury.
A spokesperson said one patient was treated for spinal precautions while the other suffered facial and back injuries. Both were transported to Tamworth hospital in a stable condition.
Police launched an investigation before SafeWork was notified of the incident.
A spokesperson for SafeWork NSW confirmed to the Leader investigators had been deployed to the site on Monday.
"SafeWork NSW is investigating an incident at a school in Tamworth this morning where two workers were injured after falling approximately five meters while undertaking electrical work on a scissor lift," the spokesperson said.
"SafeWork inspectors have attended the site and issued improvement notices.
"SafeWork's investigation is ongoing."
The works are part of a multi-million-dollar upgrade to Tamworth Public School which includes a new school hall and several new classrooms.
