Stepping up in class and racing in extremely blustery conditions, trainer Sue Grills was very happy with four-year old's run.
"He went really well," she said.
"There was a hold-up behind the barriers for 10 minutes and he got really stirred up and then he sort of over-raced a bit."
"He was trapped four deep into the strong wind."
Still he was right in the race, nosing his way in front with around 200m to go. But when eventual winner Dirty Work came at him he couldn't go with him, the favourite pulling away for a two length win.
Up Trumpz flashed home late to take second.
"He tried hard but he just had a bit harder run early," Grills said.

She said the plan was similar to his first-up win at Warwick Farm last month - to sit behind them and try and get a bit of cover from the wind (it was blowing a gale, she said).
"But when he got stirred up all he wanted to do was go today," she said.
If "all stays well with him", he could be heading back down to Sydney in a couple of weeks.
Grills is looking at one of the restricted races on the second day of the Scone Cup carnival The stand alone metro meeting, the Saturday meeting has been transferred to Rosehill Gardens.
Her immediate focus though is on Monday's transferred meeting at Tamworth where she has Elsie's Magicdance and Kynuna engaged.
The meeting was to be held at Gunnedah but, along with the Gunnedah Cup meeting on May 31, was transferred to Tamworth due to issues with jockey segregation to meet the required COVID-19 protocols.
Both will jump in the same race - the Stay Safe At Home Class 1 Handicap (1000m), which is the fourth race on the program.
Kynuna is only having her fifth start and second this preparation, while Elsie's Magicdance has had nine starts. She is also one start back from a spell.
"They're only rough shows," Grills said.
"They're more Sky 2 horses but they got a run at home so we may as well go there."
The first race jumps at 1.10pm.
