After the under-12s-17s championships were played at Coffs Harbour two weeks ago, the Taipans under-9s-11s sides got their opportunity to showcase their talents at Bass Hill on the weekend.
And showcase their talents they did with the 10 boys and 11 girls both finishing runners-up in Division 2 and earning promotion to Division 1 for next year.
The boys were edged out 3-2 by the Wollongong Redbacks in their final while the girls went down 3-nil to Picton. It was a great effort from the girls having been beaten 8-1 when the two sides met during the round games.
Tamworth fielded sides in every age division, and Tamworth Junior Oztag Development Officer Katrina Davis was "super proud of their efforts and sportsmanship".
The 11 boys were bumped up into the tough Division 1 but played well all weekend and were unlucky not to get a win.
The 10 girls had a win and a couple of draws to just miss out on a spot in the finals, while the nine girls lost their quarter-final in a nail-biter against Nepean, and the nine boys lost their quarter-final in extra time 5-4.

Their efforts come after the 14 girls were crowned Division 2 champions and the 13 and 14 boys finished runners-up in their respective divisions.
Davis was thrilled with the overall performance of the sides.
It was the best results the association has ever had at the tournament.
"[At Coffs] All but two teams reached the finals, which is the best we've ever done," she said.
"And for our little juniors. We had all age groups filled, which is a first, and to have four of them make the finals on Sunday is a huge achievement."
"Admittedly they were in Division 2. There is a big gap between the top teams in Division 1 and the top teams in Division 2. But in saying that it's a great competition for the associations that don't have that playing depth."
She said it is great to see success.
"Success builds enthusiasm," she said.
"And the kids want to come back and try and improve."
Many of them are already looking towards the nationals.
The 11-years players will also be in contention for the Country sides to play against City.
