A severe storm last weekend, which damaged parts of the entire Liverpool Plains region, is believed to have caused problems to water treatment facilities.
The issues then caused the council to implement the alert, as the water was deemed to be potentially unsafe.
To help elevate the issue, the council had been carting water to Wallabadah from the Quirindi water supply system, to ensure the community had access to some safe drinking water.
Last weekend's torrential rain and flash flooding, caused close to $2 million in damage, prompting council to look for a natural disaster declaration.
The flooding also washed away the pipeline connecting the Quipolly Dam to the Werris Creek treatment plant.
It triggered Level 5 water restrictions, which have since been relaxed to Level 2 restrictions.
