Meanwhile, following a speed zone review, there will be some changes to speed zones and improved speed signage in Moore Creek
Roads and Maritime Services carried out the review in response to the ongoing increase in the number of vehicles, cyclists and pedestrians in the area.
"This review was carried out in consultation with NSW Police and Tamworth Regional Council, and will mean a series of speed zone changes will be implemented from Monday June 24, weather permitting," a spokesperson said.
"The changes are expected to bring significant road safety benefits to residents and all road users in this area, and were assessed on a number of factors including road geometry, road environment and traffic volumes.
"The existing 60km/h speed limit on Moore Creek Road will be extended north from Verdelho Drive to just past Browns Lane, and from there until just south of Davidsons Lane it will be reduced to 80km/h."
"Speed limits on Browns Lane will be reduced to 60km/h between Manilla Road (Fossickers Way) to about 550 meters east of Bowdens Lane, and to 50km/h from there to Forest Road.
"On Forest Road itself the existing 50km/h limit will be extended south past Flagstaff Road."
The spokesperson said improved signposting of the existing 50km/h speed limit will also take place in the Forest Hills Estate area.
"A new rural residential 60km/h speed limit will be implemented in the Moore Creek area, taking in Kingfisher Drive, Songlark Place, Woodswallow Close, part of Thornbill Road, Rosewood Road, Tregarthen Road, Fiona Drive, Dunoon Road, The Albens Drive, Meadowbanks Drive, Manina Way, Anchor Road, Honeyeater Place, Horseshoe place, Austral Road, Mornington Crescent and Maysteers Lane."
Work to install the new speed limit signage will be carried out between 7am on 5pm from Monday to Friday, and is expected to be completed by the first week of July.
Traffic control and a reduced speed limit will be in place while work is carried out, for the safety of workers and motorists.
Electronic messaging boards will be in place to warn road users of the changes to speed limits.
In other news, from June 27 to July 11 council will be replacing stormwater pipes across Peel Street, just south of Johnston Street. Stage 1, going north on Peel Street, there will be no right turn east into Johnston Street. Traffic control will be in place, minor delays expected.
