Months of hard work paid off for the eight-year-old, as she claimed two gold medals in the under-nine girls' shot-put and discus during the wet and windy championships.

Earl said she trained closely with her family in the lead up to the event.
"I enjoy training with my parents and brother about four days per week, but I have never done it in wet weather before this Sydney trip," she said.
"I was a little bit scared it would be too slippery, but once on the field it was OK and I had a good time.
"I can't wait until next year when I'm old enough to compete at the national championships."
The Year 3 student will now turn her attention to regional and zone athletics competitions, where she has previously claimed gold medals in both shot-put and discus.
