Quirindi and Inverell jockey clubs have extended nominations for a total of nine of their Boxing Day races.

Inverell Jockey Club extended nominations on four of its five non-TAB races including the feature $6000 Goodwood Cup (1200m) while Quirindi Jockey Club extended all five of its non-TAB races after receiving 36 nominations for the meeting.
The IJC received 38 nominations for the five races including seven for the Goodwood Cup, a benchmarked 58 sprint.
Inverell trainer Luke Berger has nominated Cavitation for the Goodwood Cup.

At Quirindi, Gunnedah trainer Gavin Groth nominated improving mare Bring The Joy for both the $7000 White Hart Hotel Murrurundi Cup Benchmark 58 Cup (2000m) as well as the $6000 Bettington Rural Stone & Co Benchmark 50 Handicap (1450m).
The mare, bred by Gunnedah’s Dave “Pom” Anderson, won her maiden, at Inverell, two weeks ago and then ran fourth at Moree last Saturday.
Groth will make a decision on which race she contests after acceptances on Friday.
QJC secretary manager Ted Wilkinson hopes for a few more nominations especially after he drove the track on Wednesday morning and reckons it is as good as the club has had it.
“The track is in A-grade order,” Wilkinson said. “We had 25mm of rain last night but you wouldn’t know it. There is a perfect carpet.”
He hopes extending nominations will help pad out the five races for what is traditionally a “social day”.
Enquiries have been good for the various marquees, large and small, on course.
Marty Wilson, who is sponsoring the Cactus Wilson Memorial race at Quirindi, in honour of his late father, will have 30 people attending a marquee gathering to celebrate the life of his father and a racing game he loved.
