The disturbing aspect of MP Stuart Robert's internet bill (a staggering $38000) is two-fold. First, it seems he was not worried about the size of the amount, second, it also seems the federal Finance Dept. wasn't either. If reports are correct the Finance Dept. kept on okaying the thousands Robert racked up! How many other such transactions are politicians getting away with?

I remember complaining to Finance about the $300,000 cost of an office for Barnaby Joyce in Tenterfield. That's right - $300,000! In Tenterfield. The department said it was - quote - "world's best practice". MP Joyce blamed the department. Neither was worried about the money nor the fact you could probably have saved the taxpayer $200,000 by doing some homework.
Which brings me to another gripe about politicians and our money. How was it that those clowns who were judged guilty by the High Court of not determining their citizenship late last year were allowed to recover all their salaries and expenses? A group of sympathetic political colleagues made that decision. And Joyce also was let off the - wait for it - one-and-a-half-million-dollars it cost you and me for his by-election! Folks, it's time for real change!
