RESIDENTS and people driving through Tamworth are now able to access news on road closures, diversions and works through an app which has extended its reach into the region
Tamworth Regional Council has added its road news to the MyRoadInfo app and website to allow road-users to “make informed decisions when travelling”.
Council manager infrastructure and projects, Murray Russel, said council identified the need for a service which provided the latest road information in one central place.

“MyRoadInfo is a one-stop-shop where motorists can access information about road closures and delays due to accidents, storms, flooding and roadworks,” Mr Russell said.
“The website and app are interactive, allowing Council to upload new information as soon as it becomes available.
“Before embarking on a road trip, motorists can check their proposed route and immediately see any road closures or delays that will affect their trip.
“One of the exciting features of the app is that residents can nominate up to 10 favourite roads, which they might travel on regularly, and they will receive automatic notifications directly to their phone or tablet about any road closures or delays that may be affecting those particular roads.”
Deputy Mayor Phil Betts said it’s another great example of council’s commitment to improving customer service and using technology to do so.
“Council is always looking for ways to connect and inform the community,” he said.
“Together with our existing Council app MyTRC and our online development hub, MyRoadInfo is just another way we are putting council information at your fingertips.”
Residents can access the website and download the free MyRoadInfo app from the Tamworth Regional Council website at www.tamworth.nsw.gov.au/myroadinfo The app is also available for download from the iTunes app store and Google Play.
