Melinda Schnieder will perform alongside homegrown Tamworth Big Band 2340 as she salutes the great women of jazz.
Schnieder turned to jazz from country when she fell in love with Doris Day nearly a decade ago.
“There’s a lot of jazz and musical theatre in her repertoire, I’ve always loved jazz and I grew up with it as a kid,” she said.

“It’s probably funnily enough because of the country influences of Calamity Jane, I fell in love with Doris as the rooting, tooting, whip-cracking, sharp-shooting tomboy.”
Singing the greatest hits from Ella Fitzgerald, Nancy Wilson, Natalie Cole and Doris Day, Schnieder will be joined by Peter Ross for a duet.
“It’s always nice to put your spin on things but be respectful,” Schnieder said.
The event is on at the Tamworth Capitol Theatre on September 8 and 9, for more visit capitoltheatretamworth.com.au.
