Anyone else got those winter sports feelings where your nose is red and spectators are so rugged up they can barely bring their arms and hands together to clap?
Well we do! And we’re loving it.
Remember these feelings and even more with this week’s SPORTS SNAPPED gallery.
SOCCER
With scores locked up at nil-all between Norths United and North Companions at Marius Street, United co-coach Scott Freeman’s half-time message was simple. “Just keep doing what you’re doing,” the co-coach told the Armidale outfit. While the scores were deadlocked, Freeman said both teams had opportunities to score but neither side could capitalise.
NETBALL
Tamworth netballers hit the court for the fifth round of the Tamworth Netball Association winter competition on Saturday. The Northern Daily Leader captured the action from the 1pm games which saw a number of different divisions take to the court.
RUGBY UNION
Just over a week ago, Pirates coach Mat Kelly made mention of captain Conrad Starr’s try-scoring dry spell, if you could call it that. It had only been two weeks since Starr had crossed but for the influential number eight to go two rounds without a try was “very rare”.
RUGBY LEAGUE
This wasn’t meant to be happening. The sight of barrel-chested, bald-headed Phil Beaton charging on to passes, nostrils flared and short legs pumping, was supposed to be consigned to history.
AFL
The Nomads parlayed their strong performance against Gunnedah in the previous round into another convincing win – a 99-point triumph over the Swans at No.1 Oval. The final score was 21.17-143 to 6.8-44.
