That will be the key topic at a Drugs In Sport forum being held on Tuesday night at Wests Leagues Club.
The Tackling Illegal Drugs Program is an initiative of the ADF Good Sport’s Program, which has already influenced over 8000 sporting organisations across Australia build healthier, safer and more family friendly environments.
Locally Good Sports has already had an impact on our region, with several local clubs signing up to their program to reduce or completely abandon the sale of alcohol at some club’s grounds.
NSW Regional Community Development Manager Russel Grimson said no club is immune to the threat of drugs.
“Sporting clubs are a snapshot of our societies, and illegal drug use can harm us all,” he said.
“The Tackling Illegal Drugs forum will help sporting clubs prepare for is, or when they occur. It will also bring clubs closer together so they can build networks in the local area and empower them to get the information and expert help they need to create an illegal drugs policy.”
The forum will kick-off at 6pm on Tuesday night at Wests Tamworth Leagues Club, and is just one of 75 forums being rolled out around Australia over four years as part of a $4.6 million program under the National Ice Action Strategy.
