The 75-year-old tried to stop the car from rolling down the driveway of a Swan Street property when he was knocked over and trapped under the car about 9.30am.
He was freed and suffered chest injuries and abrasions.
Paramedics and a specialist trauma doctor were tasked to the scene and transported the man to Tamworth hospital.
He was listed in a stable condition.
Paramedics said it was a miracle the man “escaped serious injury”.
Police have been told the man was in his driveway when the car began moving. An officer said the man was knocked over and pinned between the car and the ground.
