THE Tamworth Young Veterans are strapping on their running shoes to honour the lives that have lost during military service.
Every step of the 50-kilometre journey, which starts at the Manilla war memorial and finishes at the new post-1973 memorial in Tamworth, will have special significance as the group.
It’s hoped the remembrance run will raise awareness about the challenges young veteran face after returning from the military, while encouraging the community to embrace the growing number of young ex-service men and women.
“We want to build community awareness of the facts and statistics regarding veteran suicide, the impact of Post Traumatic Stress as they transition to civilian life and most importantly the loss of lives on military deployment,” Tamworth Young Veterans president Rebecca Linich said.
