THE weather gods turned on the sunshine, and the crowds, for the 2017 running of the Tamworth Cup last year.
Thousands flocked trackside to the Tamworth racecourse to watch the Tony Newing-trained Timeless Prince take the honours.
It was a thrilling finish with the gelding edging out Craig Martin’s local hope, Mapmaker by a head.
Meanwhile, punters are gearing up to head back to the Tamworth Jockey Club this weekend to see who will take out the 2018 Mercure Tamworth Cup.
All the racing action will kick off from 10am on Sunday.
The race meet will host eight races including the $150,000 cup race.
Fashions on the Field will be held again and there’s also some entertainment for the kids.
Don’t miss out on a great day at the races.
