Mr Anderson said increased police numbers has seen the building bursting at the seams and with more staff on the way, the problem needed to be fixed.
“The station was built in 1994 and numbers and equipment have increased substantially since then. Currently including police and support staff there are about 160 people working there in shifts,” he said.

Mr Anderson is in talks with police minister Troy Grant who said the station would need to be identified as a “priority”. Suggestions for the project included extending the building, adding another floor, or redeveloping the interior.
