A MAN has been charged with stabbing his nephew after an alleged domestic dispute broke out in Tamworth.
Police allege the 40-year-old was drinking when an argument unfolded in the Green Street house.
The man, who police claim is the uncle, allegedly chased the 37-year-old relative around the house with a knife before stabbing him once in the left-hand side of the back.
The alleged victim fled to a nearby house and was taken to Tamworth hospital where he received stitches for the wound.
Police arrested the 40-year-old and charged him with reckless wounding and domestic-related assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
The man’s identity has been suppressed for legal reasons.
He fronted Tamworth Local Court this week where he was formally refused bail and ordered to remain in custody until May.
The 37-year-old has been released from hospital.
