Two meetings in, the majority of greyhounds are handling the upgraded Tamworth Greyhound Racing Track well, Tamworth Greyhound Racing Club (TGRC) president Robert Munn says.

The upgrades included a new camber – which is the slope applied to the surface – and Munn said most of the greyhounds were adjusting to the changes well.
“Some are going around alright, some are struggling but it is proving to be fairly good for most,” Munn said on Sunday.
“I’m pretty sure the winner of the first [Found In Quartz] had never been around at the track before and the one that won the last [Hillend] had it’s first look at the track, too.”
Found In Quartz, trained by Robert Jehu, cruised to a win by almost six lengths over Affliction in the Welcome To Tamworth Greyhound Club Stakes over 402 metres on Saturday.
While the win was the biggest of the day, it wasn’t the quickest over the distance.
That honour went to Flying Tige (23.58). The best time over the 340-metre trip was Chosen Diamond (20.10) while the only race over 457 metres was won by Armatree Boy (26.46).
Tamworth picked up the meeting on Saturday after the Gunnedah track was closed for upgrades.
The scheduled races are set to be run at other locations and Munn said TGRC was attempting to bring more of those meetings to Tamworth.
“Greyhound Racing NSW won’t let us pick any more up for this month but they will be back in contact to let us know if there’s anything in April,” Munn said
“With a bit of luck, we’ll get an extra one or, maybe, two meetings.”
