The Roos applied and were accepted into Group 4 prior to submitting an application for Group 19, citing player numbers and travel as reasons for wanting to shift north.
At a Group 4 meeting on Sunday, Walcha were asked to reconsider their application for Group 19.
Group 4 secretary Peter Blom hoped the Roos would remain in the Group but, should they decide to head north, they won’t stand in their way.
“Under the new constitution any club can play in any competition they want but because they had already applied to play in our competition and we accepted them, it is up to us to release them to go to Group 19,” he said.
“We have spoken to them about some of the problems they forsee with playing in Group 4 and we have tried to come up with some suggestions and we are waiting for Walcha to come back to us.
“Group 4 will release them, we won't hold them if they don't want to be here but we would really like to see them stay in Group 4.”
Blom said Group 4 will do everything they can to make the season easier for the Roos if they decide to remain in the southern Group.
“One of their problems was they would have to travel to Wee Waa,” he said.
“We spoke to Wee Waa at the meeting who said ‘we don't want to go to Walcha either, we are quite happy if we pick a neutral venue halfway between and play both games there.’
“It is things like this we are trying to massage to make it easy for them to stay in Group 4.
“We won't hold them here, if they decide they want to go to Group 19, they will go to Group 19.
“If they stay in Group 4 we will try and accommodate them and do whatever we can to help them out.”
The Roos attended a Group 19 meeting on Tuesday night to discuss the plans for the season.
The Roos will meet on Thursday night to discuss their future but president Michael Aspinall believes the club should opt for Group 19.
“After [Tuesday] night's meeting, going to Group 19 is a no-brainer. I am going to bend over backwards to go to Group 19,” he said.
Walcha News conducted a poll asking where the public believe the Roos should play the 2018 rugby league season with 83 per cent voting for Group 19.
