With a load of country music stars in town for the massive Tamworth Country Music Festival, many of the artists will be attending the racecourse and mingling with the crowd in the stand alone NSW meeting.
Tamworth Jockey Club will throw open the gates at 10am with free entry into the Racing NSW Country Showcase meeting where each race carries a minimum $30,000 prizemoney – feature race is the $30,000 Concrete Industry Supplies Tamworth Country Music Cup Class 1 Showcase Handicap (1200m).
The Cup attracted two nominations but only 14 can start in the sprint race.
Also on the eight-race TAB meeting is the $40,000 Kelly Covey Engineers Tamworth Country Showcase Maiden Plate (1200m). It also attracted 28 nominations for a meeting which drew a total of 166 for the Country Music Cup meeting.
The Shanon Watkins Band will be playing on the front lawn from 5:30pm, with a jumping castle for the kids and a free bus service operating.
It is part of a big weekend with the annual Bingara Cup meeting this Saturday after Deepwater Jockey Club staged their annual Deepwater Cup meeting on Saturday where Inverell-trained Cavitation won the feature race – the $11,000 Elders Glen Innes Jack Lynch Memorial 2018 Deepwater Cup (1400m).
