The 56-year-old cannot be identified for legal reasons but appeared in Tamworth Local Court again on Wednesday for the bail application that spanned three days.
On Wednesday afternoon, Magistrate Roger Prowse determined the accused had not shown cause why his detention was not justified – a test under the state’s bail laws.
The Tamworth man was refused bail and ordered to remain in custody as detectives compile a brief of evidence into the charges.
The case returns to court in January.
The man was arrested on November 23 by detectives from Strike Force Duncansby – an Oxley detectives-led operation investigating allegations of sexual and indecent assault on a child between 2011 and 2013.
The man is facing three counts of aggravated sexual assault of a person under the age of 16 and one count of aggravated indecent assault of a person under 16.
Police said investigations continue.
