The Northern Inland Academy of Sport’s 2018 programs are continuing to shape up as one of the strongest years to date after receiving record numbers across core sporting programs offered to young aspirant athletes residing within the North-West and New England region.

The Armidale City Bowling Club Mountain Biking program has gone from strength to strength following its second year back in the academy.
Head coach Alyssa Rogan is overwhelmed with the mix of talent across the age groups.
“On the back of a successful year back in the NIAS core programs, the level of talent is exciting, and this shows the potential that we can reach throughout the year as an academy,” Rogan said.
The 2018 NIAS Mountain Biking Squad is Alex Day (Tamworth), Cody Pollard (Tamworth), Conor Noonan (Tamworth), Eddie Willis (Tamworth), Ethan McDonald (Tamworth), Isla Maidment (Tamworth), Joel Mcintyre (Moore Creek), Joshua Jackson (Scone), Luke Deasey (Kootingal), Ryan Weatherley (Scone), Sophia Butler (Tamworth).
In its first year as one of NIAS’ sporting programs, athletics has received strong interest from the region’s best track and field athletes. Team manager and Athletics NSW representative Adam Jolliffe along with head coach Jay Stone, are both looking forward to developing these athletes both on and off the field.
“There is a healthy variety of track and field events which make up a really comprehensive squad within the region,” Jolliffe said.
“Throughout the year, athletes will compete against fellow academies while competing in their individual meetings.”
The 2018 NIAS Athletics Squad is Amelia Mazzei (Armidale), Benjamin Chick (Tamworth), Bethany Schulhin (Watsons Creek), Bridie Martin (Tamworth), Declan Rich (Armidale), Georgia Simm (Tamworth), Georgia Webster (Glen Innes), Kaleb Hope (Glen Innes), Lacie Quigley (Quirindi), Mikielee Snow (Glen Innes), Mitchell Clarke (Gunnedah), Paige Levingston (Tamworth), Sami Wilkie (Tamworth), Sarah Addis (Attunga), Sarah Gill (Tamworth), Tabitha Peterson (Armidale), Teraia Marsters (Walcha).
Athletes will have their first meeting on December 17.
