Tempe Macarthur Onslow and Jack Healey qualified to go down to Sydney to represent their region in the event but unfortunately Tempe was sick and couldn’t make it.
Jack came 15th, which was a fabulous effort. Well done, Jack.
The PSSA regional Cross Country was held in Coolah and it was a great day and well represented by Walcha students.
In the 8-9 boys, Hamish Warden was among the front runners in the last 500m, causing great excitement among the Walcha cheer squad but a stitch pulled Hamish up a and the Warden-warrior fell back in the field but still had a great run.
There was more excitement in the 8-9 girls with a last-minute upset and pull-out by another Armidale representative, Emily Blake was there to take her place which was good luck for Emily. The Blake sisters were in the same race and positions were in hot contention. Emily was fourth and Steph a very close fifth. Both qualified for state.
Jemma Warden and Harriet Crawford represented the 10 years girls. Jemma smashed her race, coming first. Harriet came seventh, only 20-30 metres behind Jem.
In 11 years girls, repeat state qualifier Bella Crawford came fifth with an impressive sprint finish, overtaking the sixth position in the last 100m.
Well done to all of the Walcha participants.
