Same-sex marriage
It is interesting that newspaper items about the LGBTI promotion for “equal marriage” are frequently accompanied by a rainbow graphic, the symbolism is obvious.

Flags are important symbols of what people think is central to their communities.
The rainbow is a central symbol in the Judaic-Christian faiths. The book of Genesis (9: 9-17) states clearly that God has made his covenant with his people.
“I set My rainbow in the cloud, and it shall be for the sign of the covenant between Me and the earth”.
The rainbow appears in Ezekial (1: 28). “Like the appearance of a rainbow…was the appearance of the likeness of the glory of God”.
The Catholic New American Bible states “Behold the rainbow! Then bless its maker, for majestic indeed is its splendor”. (Sirach 43: 11-12).
When we get to the final book in the bible we find the throne “set in heaven, and one sat on the throne…and there was a rainbow around the throne”. (Revelation 4: 2-3).
In Revelation 10: 1, we see “another mighty angel coming down from heaven clothed with a cloud. And a rainbow was on his head”.
The rainbow’s symbolism is well established throughout the bible.
In 1978, the LGBTI activist Gilbert Baker created the rainbow flag. Instead of the seven colours of the true rainbow, Baker’s had 8 colours, which were then reduced to 7, then to 6 stripes.
The LGBTI version of the rainbow simply became a counterfeit, just as its version of “marriage” simply became a counterfeit. Both deny reality.
The gender activists, whether deliberately or in ignorance, have appropriated this symbol of God’s covenant for their own activities. It certainly appears as a critical and deliberate affront to all people of faith.

Please explain, council
Could someone on Tamworth Regional Council please explain why the local swimming pools in Tamworth always seem to close for the season the week before the school holidays in April and do not open again until the week after the October school holidays?
I would have thought that having these facilities open might encourage young people to leave their computers and other devices alone for a while and enjoy the fresh air and sunshine and get some exercise
Also, I noticed that the council has just resurfaced Forest Road when it was only last year that they spent months and many dollars remaking the road.
Does this mean that they did such a lousy job of fixing it or are they planning to resurfacing the road every year.
Please council do the job properly and just do it once and stop wasting my money.

Region is Refugee Ready
Your article ('Region is Refugee Ready', April 21), contains inaccuracies that need to be corrected.
Professor Peter Shergold is not responsible for deciding where refugees are resettled in NSW - this is a matter for the Commonwealth Government.
Within NSW, Professor Shergold’s role is to co-ordinate the agencies involved in refugee resettlement and facilitate access to the training, healthcare and employment new arrivals need to make a smooth transition into NSW and quickly contribute to the community.
We welcome the passion and commitment of local leaders like Eddie Whitham, and understand that regional areas like Tamworth are working hard to contribute to the refugee resettlement program.
